A cell is an area of about 100 × 100 m. Your walks and runs open up territory on the map. View it in the Telegram mini app, on the website in your dashboard, or on iOS on the "Map" screen. The route line and captured cells are different things.
Which workouts give cells
Only running, trail running, walking and hiking give a track and fill. You need an outdoor GPS track at least 500 m long. Indoors, no route, and a short track give no territory. Cycling, including road, mountain and gravel, does not capture cells even as a track; the route may be displayed, and XP for the workout and the plan may be awarded.
Routes from Garmin, Polar, COROS and recordings from the iOS app enter the game. Strava tracks do not enter the game in the current import. When duplicate recordings are recognized, the source preference order is: Garmin, Polar, COROS, app, Strava, Apple, manual entry. This is the order for choosing a copy, not a list of game sources. A phone recording is not sent to the game if an overlapping walking workout from Garmin, Polar or COROS is found. Resending the same recording does not create a new workout.
Track and loop fill
A route opens a track of cells. A loop additionally opens the inner area: return to within 50 m of an already covered section after a path of at least 500 m. A loop can be inside a long route: you don't have to finish the whole workout at the starting point.
The minimum area is 2500 m², the width is 30 m. There is no upper area limit: a loop of any size is filled entirely if it is closed and covers enough area of individual cells. Loop selection relies on actual fill; overlapping variants of the same loop do not add up. A double lap does not double the cells. An out-and-back along the same line does not form a suitable area. A GPS gap prevents closing the loop.
Joint capture and eating away territory
A draw cell becomes yours. Passing through your own cell updates its visit time. If you pass through someone else's cell within 30 minutes of the owners' last pass, it becomes shared: the whole cell belongs to each participant. The time of passing through the cell is compared, not the workout start time.
A pass later than the owners' last pass by more than 30 minutes transfers the cell to you, and the previous owners lose it. You can win it back with a new suitable walk or run in the same place under the same rule. Cells do not disappear just because of how long ago they were visited. A pass uploaded retroactively that is more than 30 minutes older than the current ownership does not change ownership immediately.
Protection against cheating and GPS glitches
Erroneous GPS segments are excluded before capture. A gap greater than 200 m with a speed above 8 m/s or non-positive time breaks the route. A break between points longer than 30 minutes also breaks it. Loops are not closed across gaps; a short speed spike by itself does not mean the whole workout is invalid.
In phone recordings, points with an error greater than 30 m are discarded. Pauses, excluded segments, and gaps of raw points greater than 1000 m are not connected. Fake location, excessive average speed, or predominantly moving by transport can zero out the cells of the entire recording. In case of a partial error, the valid segments remain.
Privacy and visibility
To hide your home, add a privacy zone on the map in your dashboard. The zone radius is from 100 to 1000 m, 300 m by default. Cells whose center is within the zone's radius plus an additional 50 m buffer are excluded. Adding a zone also removes cells you have already captured inside it, so your territory may shrink. Deleting the zone does not return these cells.
The disabled setting "Show me in the leaderboard and on others' maps" hides both your participation in the leaderboard and your territory from others. You continue to see your own map. A friend's cells may be hidden by their visibility, a privacy zone, or your blocking of the player.
XP and levels
A counted game workout gives 10 XP. A track with faulty GPS or shorter than 500 m is not counted and gives no XP. A plan found by the server for its date gives another 10 XP; if the plan is recognized as a training one, another 15 XP.
A new cell, including a shared capture, gives 2 XP, up to a maximum of 50 XP per workout. A repeat of your own gives 0.2 XP, up to a maximum of 10 XP per workout. A streak gives 5 XP for every 7 consecutive days, up to a maximum of 15 XP per award. The daily limit is 100 XP by Moscow time. With poor recovery — Garmin readiness below 50 — and a track longer than 90 minutes, the cell bonus is not awarded; the capture itself is not cancelled by this.
Levels by total XP: "Novice" — from 0, "Regular" — from 200, "Consistent" — from 600, "Enduring" — from 1500, "Route Master" — from 3000, "Neighborhood Legend" — from 6000 XP.
Weekly goal and leaderboards
The weekly goal rotates: three workouts, two activities with new cells, or two workouts according to the plan.
The weekly, monthly, and yearly leaderboards are separate. The week starts on Monday, and period boundaries follow Moscow time. Captures and joint cells count as plus, losses as minus. Repeating your own cell does not increase your rating. The period result is not the sum of XP or the number of cells held. In case of a tie, the order is determined by name.
Game notifications
Where to set this up: in the dashboard — the "Map" tab, the "Game: notifications" card; in the mini app — the "Map" tab, the "Game: captures" block; in the iPhone app — "Profile" → "Notifications", the "Territory changes" and "Leaderboard" toggles.
The "Game: captures" and "Game: rating" settings control messages about losses, territory recapture, entering the top three, leadership, dropping in rank, area and level milestones, and the weekly result. Losses are collected starting from 3 cells; losses to a single opponent are reported no more than once every 6 hours. The common gateway allows up to 3 separate notifications per day, and the rest are collected into a digest. Quiet hours are by default 22:00–08:00 in your time zone; messages are postponed. Nearby rating events are combined within a 30-minute window, so a message may arrive later than the map change. Under a lost-cells message there are two buttons. "Show on map" opens the mini app on the lost patch. "Retake!" sends a hint to the chat — the approximate length of a loop around the edge of that patch, for example "A ~2 km loop will win these cells back". The length is calculated from the cell grid; the rival's route is not revealed. The button itself does not return the cells: your next suitable run or walk through that place, more than 30 minutes after the rival's pass, will.
When cells appear
First, sync must deliver a route with suitable GPS, then the server processes tracks that have not yet been counted. Processing can be triggered when preparing a review, after uploading an app recording, and as a background pass once an hour. There is no fixed time for cells to appear: a single workout fact without an uploaded route will not update the map.
Recording a track on iOS
On the "Map" you can start recording, pause it, resume, and finish. Allow access to your location. During recording, preliminary cells are visible; the finished recording is sent to the server. The preliminary map does not account for final verification, someone else's ownership, or all privacy restrictions, so the official result may differ.
Frequently asked questions
The run didn't give any cells — why?
Check the outdoor sport type, GPS route, and a length of at least 500 m. Wait for the upload and processing. GPS errors and privacy can remove cells.
The loop didn't fill in — why?
Check that it closes within 50 m after a path of at least 500 m, and check its area and width. Small and narrow loops don't qualify; there is no upper area limit; GPS can break the loop. The path itself may remain without fill.
The cells disappeared — how do I get them back?
Another player may have taken them, or your new privacy zone may have removed them. Walk through someone else's territory again: if more than 30 minutes have passed since the owners' last pass, the cell becomes yours.
Why does my friend have my cells?
Within 30 minutes between passes, a cell is shared. A later pass by your friend with a gap of more than 30 minutes transfers it to them.
Cycling doesn't count?
Cycling captures neither the track nor the ring. The route may be visible, and XP for the workout and the plan may still be credited.
Can I record a workout from my phone?
Yes, on iOS in the "Map". Finish the recording and wait for it to upload. Cells during recording are preliminary; the server checks GPS and duplicates from the watch.
How do I hide my home?
Add a privacy zone with a radius from 100 to 1000 m: it excludes cells by their distance from the center with a 50 m buffer and removes existing cells inside. Deleting the zone does not return the cells.
Why can't I see my friend's cells?
Your friend may have disabled display in the leaderboard and on others' maps. Check if the player is blocked; their privacy zones also hide cells.
How many points per cell?
A new one — 2 XP, a repeat — 0.2 XP. Limits — 50 and 10 XP per workout, total daily limit — 100 XP. In the leaderboard, a capture adds one cell, a loss subtracts one.
What does the "Retake!" button do?
It sends a hint: the approximate length of a loop around the edge of the lost patch. The button does not return the cells — a run or walk through that place more than 30 minutes after the rival's pass will. "Show on map" opens the lost patch in the mini app.
