There is no separate 1trAIner app for iPhone and Apple Watch yet — it's in the works. Below is an honest look at what you can set up today and what to expect.
What works now
- Workouts via Strava. If your Apple Watch writes workouts to Strava, connect Strava in your dashboard — the coach will see distance, pace, heart rate, and time.
- Weight and body composition via Health. Smart scales that send data to the Health app on iPhone can be linked to the service: your dashboard provides a personal address, and a shortcut is set up on your phone to send new measurements.
- A photo of the scale in chat. The fastest way: a snapshot of the display — the coach recognizes weight and body composition.
- Manual workout logging. In the mini app there's a "Mark workout as completed" button — what you did, how many minutes, how hard it felt.
What's not available yet
Sleep, heart rate variability, and resting heart rate from Apple Watch don't reach the service yet: with Apple, this data is only available to an app on the phone itself. That's exactly what the companion app will do.
What the app will bring
- workouts straight from the watch, including heart rate series;
- sleep and phase duration;
- heart rate variability and resting heart rate;
- steps, energy expenditure, and VO2max;
- weight and body composition without shortcuts.
Data will sync in the background, and linking will take one step: a six-digit code appears in your dashboard, and you enter it in the app.
About heart rate variability
Apple and Garmin calculate HRV differently: Apple provides SDNN for individual measurements, while Garmin gives an averaged overnight value. That's why they're stored separately in the service and not merged into a single number — comparing them directly isn't correct.
If you have both Garmin and Apple Watch
The same workout will come from both sources. The service will match the records by sport type, start time, and duration, and will keep the Garmin version as the primary one: there will be no double counting of volume.
While the app is in preparation, the most complete data set comes from pairing Garmin + nutrition diary. For Garmin, see the “Connecting Garmin” section.
