AI coach for trail running
AI coach for trail running is a 1trAIner service where artificial intelligence guides your preparation for off-road running. It suits amateurs moving from road to trails or choosing a new trail race. The service builds a plan, reviews uploaded workouts and recalculates the week. The first 7 days are free, then 450 ₽ per month or 4999 ₽ per year, with no auto-renewal.
First 7 days free, no card needed. After that 450 ₽ per month or 4999 ₽ per year, no auto-renewals.
How it works
-
1
Tell about your trail experience, race distance, elevation gain and available terrain — the AI will build a plan for your goal and conditions.
-
2
Connect Garmin or Apple Watch via the app, or start without a watch — add information about your workouts by messaging about surface and terrain.
-
3
Get a morning plan and a review of uploaded workouts — write in the chat about difficult descents, missed sessions and schedule changes to adjust the week.
How it differs from a coach and a regular app
| What we compare | 1trAIner AI coach | Personal coach | Regular app |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual plan | Built around your goal, level, and available days of the week | Tailored to you, depth depends on the coach's experience | A ready-made template, the same for everyone |
| Daily adjustments based on your watch | Every day based on sleep, resting heart rate, and completed workouts | Usually a call once a week | No: the plan doesn't know how you feel |
| Workout review for every session | Automatically after your activity is uploaded | Selectively, for key workouts | Just numbers with no explanation |
| Availability | Around the clock in chat, replies in seconds | During business hours, by appointment | The app is always available, but it doesn't answer questions |
| Price per month | 450 ₽ (or 4999 ₽ per year), first 7 days free | From 5000 ₽ for online coaching | From free to 1500 ₽ for a subscription |
| Who it suits | For amateurs who need a plan and a review without waiting for an answer | For those who value a real person and in-person work on technique | For those who just need to log workouts |
For trail running, not only kilometres matter but also elevation gain, descents and surface: the AI takes into account the terrain you describe, the routes available and the workouts completed when planning the week.

Frequently asked questions
Is the service suitable for a first trail running race after road races?
Specify your running experience, usual volume and the parameters of your chosen race, including elevation gain. Separately tell whether you are familiar with descents and uneven trails. This information gives the AI context for building a plan to transition to trail running.
Can I prepare if there are no mountains nearby?
Describe the routes and terrain available in the chat so the AI takes real training conditions into account. Also tell the race parameters. The plan can be discussed and adjusted, but training on flat ground is not equivalent to the experience of moving along mountain trails.
Do you need a watch for trail running workouts?
Without a watch, you can start by reporting the duration of the session, the terrain, and how you felt. Garmin and Apple Watch let you upload workouts through the app. Supplement the data with a description of the surface: the numbers alone don't capture all the features of the trail.
What should I do if I missed a long workout on hilly terrain?
Write which session didn't happen and when the route you need will be available again. The AI will adjust the rest of the plan based on your message. Don't silently reschedule a long workout: it's important to consider its place among the other sessions of the week.
Will the AI teach me downhill technique?
In the chat you can discuss preparation and describe difficulties on descents, but the service doesn't watch how you place your feet on the trail. Reviewing an uploaded activity doesn't replace hands-on work on technique with an in-person coach.
How much does trail running preparation cost?
The first 7 days are free, then the service costs 450 ₽ per month or 4999 ₽ per year. There are no automatic charges. During the free trial you can get to know the plan and discuss the terms of preparation for your race in the chat.
