Not a feeling, but a curve

The benchmark for this programme is to ski 42.2 km after 20 weeks of preparation, with no target finish time. For such a distance, not only overall volume matters, but also the ability to keep moving with controlled effort and to eat and drink on time. The starting load depends on your base: the preparation period itself does not mean the distance is already within your reach.
The 1trAIner coach builds the plan around your current endurance and schedule, setting aside time for long sessions separately. Data from your Garmin/Apple Watch syncs automatically, and the plan is recalculated after every workout. Your comments on nutrition, fatigue and trail conditions help refine the load: speed on snow cannot be assessed in isolation from the conditions.
The first weeks help assess how well you tolerate the load. Then, as long as you're recovering well, longer sessions make up more of your training. These sessions let you test your fuelling, hydration and gear, and practise keeping your early effort in check. Volume decreases as the race approaches so you reach the start without excess fatigue. Progress means a steadier effort during long sessions, not a speed record every time.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a sports watch?
No. You can start without one: the plan is based on your goal, level, and available time. With a Garmin or Apple Watch, the plan can be tailored more precisely — the coach can see your heart rate, sleep, and actual weekly training volume.
