31 July 2026 · the integration launches in test mode
In triathlon and endurance running, people have long said: nutrition is the fourth discipline. You can build a perfect plan, watch your heart rate zones and sleep — and still "bonk" on long runs or quietly gain weight during recovery weeks. The reason is almost always the same: energy balance doesn't match the training load. Eat too little — no energy and no recovery. Eat too much — weight creeps up.
What's new
1trAIner connects to FatSecret — one of the most popular nutrition diaries. You keep your diary as usual (food search, barcode scanner, ready meals), and the 1trAIner coach automatically receives:
- calories per day;
- protein, fat, carbohydrates;
- day-by-day trends — alongside actual energy expenditure from Garmin (workouts, steps, basal metabolism).
Why the coach needs this
- Energy for workouts. Before a high-volume day, the coach sees that you "underfuelled" yesterday and will warn you — or adjust the intensity.
- Recovery. A chronic calorie deficit is a common cause of poor sleep, low HRV and stalled progress. Now this link is visible.
- Weight stabilisation. A surplus during easy weeks and a deficit during hard weeks is a classic mistake. The coach compares intake and expenditure and helps you keep your weight without extremes.
- Carbs for training load, protein for strength. Macros are assessed in the context of the plan, not an abstract "norm".
How to connect
- Register with FatSecret (the FatSecret Calorie Counter app for iOS/Android is free).
- In your 1trAIner dashboard, open Profile → Integrations → FatSecret and tap "Connect FatSecret".
- Grant access on the FatSecret page — your password is stored only by FatSecret, and 1trAIner gets access to the diary via OAuth only.
- Keep your nutrition diary as usual. The data will sync automatically.

How to use it via Telegram
All communication happens in a familiar chat with your coach:
- “how is my nutrition this week?” — the coach will show calories, macros, and the balance with expenditure;
- “will I have enough energy for tomorrow's long run?” — will assess yesterday's and today's fueling;
- “why isn't my weight going down?” — will compare intake/expenditure over the past weeks, without guesswork;
- the coach will proactively warn about systematic under-eating or a surplus — just as it now warns about under-recovery.
The integration is launching in test mode: you can already connect it in your dashboard, and automatic diary upload will be enabled in the coming days. For feedback and ideas, write to support@1trainer.ru.
